Celebrating the Successful Joint Development Between Amylum and Borealis/Borouge

Today, an official invitation event was held at the historic Burghausen Castle near the German-Austrian border to commemorate the joint development achievements between global polypropylene (PP) materials leader Borealis/Borouge and Amylum.

Hosted by the Borealis/Borouge executive team, this gathering provided an opportunity to celebrate the successful development of Amylum’s next-generation foamed PP noodle bowl—a 100% recyclable, non-toxic, and microwave-safe solution—and to discuss future strategic collaboration.

This joint development milestone was also featured as a case study on the official Borealis global website. Borealis formally highlighted that the mono-material PP foamed noodle bowl, co-developed by Borouge International and Amylum using Daploy™ WB140HMS High Melt Strength PP, achieves the heat resistance, dimensional stability, superior thermal insulation, and lightweight properties required for microwave heating, while offering full recyclability.

During this visit to Germany, we engaged with Borealis/Borouge executives and global industry stakeholders through the official Foam Insights & Exchange dinner, a tour of the Burghausen production facility, and technical and strategic discussions, establishing a meaningful foundation to advance our collaboration toward full-scale commercialization and global expansion.

Notably, Borealis is currently investing over €100 million in its Burghausen production facility in Germany to triple its manufacturing capacity for Daploy™ High Melt Strength PP (HMS PP). Scheduled to begin operations in the second half of 2026, Borealis stated that this investment is intended to address expanding global demand for high-performance, recyclable foam solutions.
