Creating Sustainable Alternatives

at Amylum Systems, we are...

deeply committed to fostering a sustainable future through innovative material solutions designed to reduce the environmental footprint of industries worldwide. Our efforts are focused on creating sustainable alternatives that not only meet the demands of modern manufacturing and packaging but also contribute positively to our planet's health.

Combatting Polystyrene Foam Pollution

Polystyrene foam, commonly known as Styrofoam, poses significant environmental challenges. Its durability and resistance to decomposition mean that it remains in our ecosystem for hundreds of years, contributing to pollution and harming wildlife. Recognizing this, Amylum Systems has developed groundbreaking solutions aimed at replacing polystyrene foam across various applications.

Our biodegradable Thermoplastic Starch (TPS) foam and oxo-biodegradable, nontoxic, recyclable Polypropylene (PP) foam are eco-friendly alternatives that offer the same versatility and functionality as their conventional counterparts but without the adverse environmental impact.

Global Phase-Out
of Polystyrene Foam

The global movement against plastics and polystyrene foam is rapidly spreading worldwide, with an increasing number of regions recognizing the need for the change.

In December 2023, the "Farewell to Foam Act" was introduced to the U.S. Congress, signaling a decisive move towards phasing out plastic foam food containers, loose fill foam, and single-use foam coolers throughout the nation. This legislative effort is in line with a broader environmental consciousness, evidenced by actions already taken by numerous states, such as New York, California, Maryland, Colorado, Washington, Delaware, Oregon, Washington D.C., Rhode Island, among others, to reduce plastic usage. Furthermore, polling data from Oceana reveals that a significant majority of American voters—77%—are in favor of reducing single-use plastics, with 72% specifically supporting measures to curtail the use of plastic foam foodware, packing peanuts, and coolers.

These legislative developments mirror a collective acknowledgment of the critical need to transition towards more sustainable materials. Positioned at the forefront of this shift, Amylum Systems offers pioneering, eco-friendly alternatives that align with and bolster these environmental initiatives.

Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR)

Our commitment to sustainability extends beyond the creation of eco-friendly materials. We understand the importance of the entire lifecycle of a product, from production to end-of-life management. Amylum Systems' solutions are designed with the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) policy in mind, helping companies achieve eco-friendly end-of-life management of their products.

Our materials are used in a wide range of products, including automobiles, furniture, construction parts, containers, and packaging materials, enabling industries to reduce their environmental impact and comply with EPR requirements.
